Does anybody have feelings about the new Star Wars?
I felt like it had some fun, if a bit heavy-heanded, tributes to the older movies - and I found it encouraging to see a competent and compassionate girl hero in the lead.
Also, something I have seen discussed elsewhere which hit home for me, was how very "normal" the prominent face of evil was... That we face not a monster, but someone who has had every advantage and opportunity, every chance for redemption, and who chooses darkness with eyes wide open. Someone who looks like an everyday person, but is still capable of committing great wrongs. And while some people found the reveal disappointingly mundane, some find it very true to life that it is often not the people who look like monsters who make the wounds in the world.
Hopefully that was not too spoilery for anyone who might still be considering seeing it, who hasn't yet.
