You Can Highlight More Accurately with Your Keyboard FreeComputerTips by in home computer tutor and virus removal specialist Rick Kirkham of Honolulu Hawaii covering all of Oahu
As I've said many times most of my in home computer tutoring clients here in Honolulu Hawaii are mouse driven. Sometimes though you may need to copy and paste a single word in a paragraph and your left click mouse drag option keeps picking up extra characters.
Here's What To Do
Left mouse click as close to what you want to copy to the clipboard as possible. Now use your left or right arrow keys on your keyboard to get your cursor right next to what you want to copy.
When you're just one character away from what you want to copy to the clipboard, press and hold down your Shift key on your keyboard. With the Shift key held down tap your left or right arrow key whichever will begin moving over the word you want to copy. Note each time you tap the arrow key with the Shift key held down you highlight another character of the word you want to copy to the clipboard. Now just keep tapping till the whole word is highlighted.
Now that only what you want to copy then paste is highlighted, go back to a previous free computer tip. Press and hold down the CTRL key on the keyboard and tap the c key to copy the word to the clipboard. When you're ready, from a previous free computer tip, press and hold the CTRL key and tap v in order to paste to the box or document.
That's it! Tapping the arrow keys while holding down the Shift key gives you greater accuracy than using the drag feature with your mouse.
Enjoy your computer.
